Two Kingston Police officers are being assessed in hospital after they were injured during a foot chase with a man who fled from an officer who had arrested him. One officer suffered serious cuts to her hand after jumping a fence during the pursuit.

Man crawls to safety after plunging into icy waters

KINGSTON—A man is lucky to be alive after his all-terrain vehicle broke through thin Lake Ontario ice off Prince Edward County about 40 kilometres southwest of Kingston. Ontario Provincial Police say the man was riding just offshore from the small community of Waupoos Monday afternoon.

TORONTO - Former Conservative MP Rahim Jaffer pleaded guilty Tuesday to careless driving, was fined $500, and had cocaine possession and drunk driving charges withdrawn. Jaffer was arrested on Sept. 11, 2009.

OTTAWA—Canada is on track to become more diverse. In a population growth report released Tuesday morning, Statistics Canada says by 2031, between 25% and 28% of the population could be foreign-born and about 55% of them would be people born in Asia.
